Following our inaugural ‘Across the Border’ article last week, here’s a quick run down of some of the gigs taking place at venues in the surrounding counties in the coming week. FEROCIOUS DOG
Friday October 12th
Esquires, Bedford
It’s been a busy few years for Ferocious dog. Their latest LP, The Red Album, was released last year and in 2016 they played Billy Bragg’s Left Field stage at Glastonbury and toured with The Levellers on their sold out European and UK tour. The band bring their mix of rock, reggae and Celtic vibrations back to the region on Friday night. Support is by The Dirty Tales. Tickets cost £16.50 in advance.

OKILLY DOKILLY
Friday October 12th
The Craufurd Arms, Milton Keynes

Ned Flanders-themed metallers Okilly Dokilly are in the UK for the first time and headlining the Craufurd Arms. The band from Phoenix have previously described their sound as ‘Nedal’. Their debut Howdilly Doodilly was released in 2016 and they’re currently working on its follow-up, Howdilly Twodilly. Doors open at 7.30pm, tickets cost £15 in advance.

THE JAMES TAYLOR QUARTET
Saturday October 13th
Esquires, Bedford

The James Taylor Quartet are gearing up for the release of their latest album Soundtrack from Electric Black. Taylor has taken his trademark howling Hammond sound to the masses for more than 25 years, playing a mixture of groove jazz-funk. Support is by DJ Crip. Doors 8pm, tickets £17 in advance.

DIAMOND HEAD
Tuesday October 16th
The Craufurd Arms, Milton Keynes

Influential British heavy metallers Diamond Head are back in the region to headline the Craufurd Arms next week. Despite numerous line up changes over the years, they’re still led by original member – lead guitarist Brian Tatler. The band has been working on the follow up to their 2016 self-titled LP. Doors open at 7.30pm, tickets cost £12 in advance.

THE SARABETH TRIO
Wednesday October 16th
The Stables, Wavendon

SaraBeth, Glen Mitchell, and Vickie Vaughn have teamed up for form the harmony powerhouse SaraBeth Trio. Based in Nashville, Tennessee, the Texas, London and Kentucky natives are have been working with renowned producer Paul Worley. Doors 8pm, tickets £15.

SCOTT MATTHEWS
Thursday October 18th
The Assembly, Leamington

Novello Award winning singer songwriter Scott Matthews​ is playing the Zepher Lounge in Leamington Spa in support of his new album, The Great Untold. Doors open at 7pm, tickets cost £16.50 before fees.
