Alt-rockers Marmozets have announced a number of spring UK shows, including the Roadmender in Northampton.

The band will play the 850 capacity venue on Wednesday May 9th. The quintet from West Yorkshire released their sophomore album Knowing What You Know Now last month via Roadrunner Records, itself the follow-up to 2014 debut The Weird and Wonderful Marmozets.

Championed by the likes of Zane Lowe and having bagged prestigious support slots to Muse, the band was nominated in the Best British Newcomer category of the 2013 Kerrang! Awards and were voted Best New UK Band by Big Cheese magazine the same year.

Presale tickets go on sale at 9am today, with general sale beginning Friday March 2nd, also at 9am

Sheffield’s RedFaces headlined The Black Prince on Friday night. The second night of their February UK tour, the venue was busy and ready to go at it from the beginning. Highlight of the RedFaces set? Probably ‘Kerosene’. Support came from a Northampton trio at different stages of their development: The Barratts are the kids that strut it like seasoned pros, Phantom Isle the London-experienced confident quarter ready to push on, whilst openers Citrus played just their second show with the vim and verve of people in love with what they do.

It’s been a couple of years since Billy Lockett last played a Northampton show, and he’s achieved a fair amount since then. So it’s exciting to see he returns to his hometown for a headline show at the Royal and Derngate on Saturday May 19th.

The ‘Wide Eyed’ singer is currently on his first UK tour since 2015, which culminates on Friday in a sold out show at London’s Union Chapel.

Tickets for the Northampton show go on sale this Friday at 9am via Live Nation. Register with them beforehand and you can purchases presale tickets from Thursday 9am.

Northampton writing/production duo Jay Brook and Lee Irons – aka Ginger Snaps – head out on their debut tour this April and May.

The former Oh Boy! bandmates have turned their attention to pop-rap since 2015, and have already knocked out four fantastic singles in ‘Paranoid’, ‘Phat Kids’, ‘Number Crunching’ and the most recent one, ‘Anorak’. 11 dates have been announced for the full band treatment, including a “secret show” in Northampton. Stay tuned for more details on that one.

Paloma Faith will headline Towcester Racecourse this summer as part of her 20-date tour across the UK. The London singer-songwriter, who released her latest album The Architect last November, comes to our county on Saturday July 28. Tickets go on sale on this Friday, February 2, at 9am.

Faith said: “I am so excited to be touring and to bringing the music I love to fans all over the country. “It has been wonderful to see how popular The Architect is, so I cannot wait to get on the stage and perform. We are going to have a terrific evening in Towcester”.

The Architect has sold almost a quarter of a million copies and spent eight weeks in the Top 10. It will soon be her fourth double platinum album in a row – a first for a British female artist.
