It seems normal service resumes this week as there’s now plenty of excellent ShoeCounty events to get stuck into, including these tasty morsels…

KING’S GAMBIT + AMII DAWES + DONNYBROOK FAIR + THE MOBBS + DANIEL KNIGHT + JOSH WYLIE + more
Fri January 26th to Sun 28th
The Picturedrome, Northampton
New Boots cannot quite work out what the point of “Mayor-Fest” is [except maybe electioneering], but there’s no denying there’s some quality talent signed up for it (some mentioned above, and there is some covers bands too). Also the profits go to Alfie Bear’s Journey Fund, so postpone the cynicism and get down if you can. Doors are 7pm on Fri and Sat, 2pm on Sun. Tickets are £45 for the three days or £19 for each day.

ROCKED UP HOOTENANNY LAUNCH NIGHT
Friday January 26th
The White Hart, Corby
Live music is TBC, but it’s a chance to learn more about the Rocked Up Hootenanny Festival taking place at Rockingham Motor Speedway on September 8th, and there’s a number of super cheap advance tickets on sale just at this event. Doors 8pm, free entry

FUTURE LOVE + LUCKY SHIVERS
Friday January 26th
The Lamplighter, Northampton
Alt-rock heaven at The Lamp as these two talents collide. Last Future Love show for a while we’re told, and a rare show [full stop] for Lucky Shivers. So no excuses really. Doors 9pm, free entry.

THE BRAND NEW HEAVIES + THE REPRO JAM SQUAD
Saturday January 27th
The Roadmender, Northampton
Acid jazz, baby! They have had a lot of hits and still deliver a great show; the soul fire still burns strong after 25+ years. ‘Never stop’ indeed. Doors 9pm, £23 tickets

DEITUS + FUNERAL THRONE + TRIVAX + OPUS MORTIS
Saturday January 27th
The Black Prince, Northampton
Acta Non Verba LP release show for the London-based black metal headliners. More extreme metal sounds courtesy of supports that hail from the Black Country, Birmingham, and Coventry. Doors 6pm, £6 tickets

BLACK COAST + COVE + SHARKTEETH GRINDER + XYHON
Saturday January 27th
Raff’s Bar, Wellingborough
Melodic metal from Stoke to headline, hardcore from Kent, plus the Midlands finest thrashers bringing up the rear. Doors 6pm, £5 on the door.

ROZISM + VELVET ENGINE + JONO & THE UKE DEALERS + THE GINHOUSE GYPSIES
Saturday January 27th
The Lab, Northampton
This is a charity clothes swap event in aid of Epilepsy Society, followed by live music in the evening from some of Northampton’s nicest folk. Doors: clothes swap is 3-6pm, music is 7pm onwards, £2 entry

FEROCIOUS DOG + PATCH BLACK + EMMA McGRATH
Saturday January 27th
The White Hart, Corby
The Celtic folk-rockers will be playing a special set as a four-piece acoustic line-up, with singer-songwriter supports. It’s supposed to be sold out, so maybe check with the venue/promoter if there’s any way in. Doors 7.30pm
