BEDLAM PSYCHO ROCKIN FESTIVAL
Friday September 14th – Saturday September 15th
The Roadmender, Northampton
Psychobilly/rockabilly/garage trash festival, featuring some of the best bands on the scene from around the globe. Friday is Long Tall Texans, The Caravans, Epileptic Hillbillys, The Test Pilots, and The Gruffs. Saturday is Demented Are Go, The Polecats, The Pharaohs, Thee Scarecrows AKA, Midniters, Screaming Rebel Angels, Blue Rockin’, El Camino, The Hillmans, Sin Kings, Knocksville, and Deadbeat Deluxe. Friday doors 7pm, and £15 entry; Saturday is doors 12.30pm, and £30 tickets [£35 door]

Motown legends and hitmakers play just two shows in the UK this year. The Velvelettes are the only ’60s group that still has all four original members in the line up! “Blue wave R&B” from Northamptonshire, this is a dirty, Tom Waits-style voice of predominantly originals. Doors 7pm, free entry [donations welcomed]

CENTURY CITY
Saturday September 15th
Club 43, Northampton
The opening night of the ‘Rebel Waltz‘ clubnight, a new alternative rock’n’roll soiree that, unusually for Northampton, is on beyond 1am. Each night has one or two bands on, this one has everyone’s favourite party starters Century City playing. Pop hooks and overdriven guitars are the order of the day; Century City features members of Loose Tooth, Future Love, and Ginger Snaps. Doors 8pm, band at 10.30pm, open til 4am. VENUS FLY TRAP

Venus Fly Trap are a hard band to pigeonhole, taking their influences from many sources and amalgamating them into a congealed whole. But try “Bladerunner post-punk meets dark electronica uptown, wearing rose-tinted shades”. The new album Icon was released in June 2018. Doors 8pm, free entry

GREGG CAVE
Saturday September 15th
Albion Brewery Bar, Northampton
Cave has made a name for himself on the British folk circuit fronting the band TRADarrr and one half of acclaimed duo Fleetwood Cave. His songs have been played on BBC Radio 2 and HAS 15 years of live gigging behind him. Doors 7.30pm, free entry

SCREAMIN’ REBEL ANGELS

The second of the Bedlam after shows, this time with a female-fronted New York rockin’ trio. Show from midnight, free entry

KING’S GAMBIT
Saturday September 15th
The Walnut Tree Inn, Blisworth
A party-loving contemporary folk band, writing and performing their own original material. The Northampton-based 4-piece feature Chris on Guitar/Vocals accompanied by mandola, bass guitar and cello providing a unique musical offering with a strong beat. Music 9pm, free entry
